1988-93 C/K TRUCKS

THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDED DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 93-239-9A DATED JUNE 1993. THE VIN BREAKPOINTS HAVE BEEN ADDED. ALL COPIES OF 93-239-9A SHOULD BE DISCARDED.

CONDITION:

Owners of some 1988-93 C/K trucks may comment about poor radio reception or static.

CAUSE:

Water intrusion through the antenna base. The sealing compound contained in the antenna base may separate thus allowing water to enter the antenna base and from there migrate along the antenna cable. Usually, the separation cannot be seen by a visual inspection.

CORRECTION:

Uncouple the connection where the antenna cable and antenna cable extension meet (Figure 1). Check for the presence of moisture, corrosion, or other signs of water intrusion. If there is any sign of moisture at the connector, replace the antenna cable and body assembly (P/N 15963441). It water intrusion is present, it will also be necessary to replace the antenna extension cable between the antenna body terminal and radio receiver. (See Figures 1 and 2.)

Vehicles built after the following VIN breakpoints are equipped with the new antenna base:
