Fuel Cut Solenoid: Description and Operation

Cold Advance And Shutdown Solenoids:

Purpose:
The Shutdown solenoid stops fuel flow to the fuel injectors.

Operation:
The shutdown solenoid operates by spring pressure. when 12 volts is removed from the solenoid, spring pressure pushes the solenoid tang, which is pushed against a valve which controls fuel flow to the injectors. by removing the 12 volt source to the solenoid, fuel flow to the injectors is shut off inside the injector pump.

Location:
The Shutdown solenoid is located under the injector pump cover.
