Manual Shift Linkage Adjust
1. Apply parking brake.2. Loosen rod swivel attaching bolt.
3. Place column selector lever into Neutral position. Manually place lever into Neutral detent. Do not use shift selector indicator as a guide to Neutral position.
4. Place transmission control lever into neutral. Move transmission control shift lever to the forward position, then back to the second detent.
5. Hold rod (connected to column) tightly in swivel. Torque attaching nut to 17 ft. lbs.
6. Place column selector lever into Park position and check adjustment. The column selector lever must move through all the detents. The engine must start in the Park or Neutral positions. With the selector lever in the Park position, the parking pawl should freely engage within the rear (reaction) internal gear lugs or the output ring gear lugs and prevent the vehicle from rolling, which could result in personal injury.
