Wiper Inoperative


Front wiper switch continuity test:






1. With ignition switch On and wiper switch in Hi position, connect test lamp between ground and wiper motor terminal 4, Fig. 19. If test lamp lights, proceed to step 2. If test lamp does not light, proceed to step 3.
2. With ignition switch On and wiper switch in Lo position, connect jumper wire between motor and external ground. If motor operates, repair open in ground. If motor does not operate, replace motor.
3. Check condition of wiper fuse. If fuse is blown, proceed to step 4. If fuse is not blown, locate and repair open in wire between fuse block and wiper motor.
4. Remove fuse and connect an ammeter across fuse block terminals, then operate wipers and note is current draw exceeds capacity of original fuse.
5. If current draw is high, disconnect wiper motor electrical connectors and replace fuse. Actuate wiper switch several times, then recheck fuse. If fuse is not blown, replace wiper motor. If fuse is blown, locate and repair short or ground in circuit.
