Model and Year: 1988-92 C/K TRUCKS WITH AIR CONDITIONING

THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDES DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 89-217-1B, DATER JULY 1989. THE 1990-92 MODEL YEARS HAVE BEEN ADDED. ALL COPIES OF 89-217-1B SHOULD BE DISCARDED.

Owners of some 1988-1992 C/K vehicles may comment that water leaks from the A/C evaporator drain into the passenger compartment. This condition can be encountered during A/C operation especially on days with high humidity. Under normal operation, water gathers on the bottom of the evaporator case and drains out into the engine compartment. However, in some instances, air flowing through the engine compartment can blow the water back toward the opening in the cowl for the evaporator drain. This action may allow the water to seep down into the passenger compartment.

In order to repair this condition, a drain tube (P/N 22542866) should be installed on the end of the evaporator drain (Figure 1). This will allow the water to drain down away from the evaporator drain opening.
