POOR/NO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATION UPPER LEFT CORNER
Model and Year:
1992 C/K TRUCKS
Owners of some 1992 C/K vehicles may notice the upper left corner of the instrument cluster dimly lit or totally unilluminated while driving with the lights on. The most likely cause, other than a burned out bulb, is an interference between the upper left instrument panel illumination bulb socket and the instrument panel male electrical connector housing. The condition can be remedied by removing only enough material from the instrument panel connector housing area to eliminate the interference.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the lower steering column trim panel.
2. Remove the instrument panel bezel.
3. Remove the left air conditioning duct.
Remove the PRNDL cable at the steering column.
Inspect the instrument panel cluster connector housing for signs of contact with the cluster illumination bulb socket.
Remove the interference causing material from the Instrument Panel Cluster Connector Housing (Lower Left Hand Corner) and test the cluster fit.
Install the instrument cluster
Install the left air conditioning duct
Install the PRNDL cable and adjust if necessary
Install the instrument cluster bezel
Install the lower steering column trim panel
