Glow Plug: Description and Operation
Glow Plug Location:
PURPOSE
Glow plugs provide a source of heat in addition to heat provided by compression, to aid in starting.
OPERATION
Glow plugs are 6 volts heaters (operated at 12 volts) that turn on when the engine control switch is turned to the run position prior to starting the engine. They remain pulsing for a short time after starting, then automatically turn off.
LOCATION
Glow plugs are located in the cylinder head and protrude into the precombustion chamber.
