Electronic Control Module:

CAUTION:
^ Replacement of the Transmission Control Module (TCM) consists of a service controller without a Prom.
^ If the diagnostic procedures required the TCM to be replaced, the TCM and Prom should be checked for the correct part number. If they are, remove the Prom and install it in the service controller. The service controller will not contain a Prom.
^ When replacing a production TCM with a service controller, transfer the broadcast code and production TCM part number to the controller label. Do not record information on the access cover.
^ The key must be "OFF" when disconnecting or reconnecting the TCM connector, to prevent internal damage to the TCM.
^ To prevent possible Electrostatic Discharge damage to the TCM, do not touch the connector pins or soldered components on the circuit board.
^ To prevent possible Electrostatic Discharge damage to the Prom, do not touch the component leads, and do not remove integrated circuit from carrier.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable
2. Disconnect connectors from the TCM
3. Remove TCM

INSTALL OR CONNECT:
1. Install TCM into vehicle
2. Connect TCM connectors
3. Connect negative battery cable
4. Perform Diagnostic Circuit Check.
