Brake Signal: Description and Operation

Brake Switch Circuit (Cruise Control Brake Input):
BRAKE SWITCH (CRUISE BRAKE)
PURPOSE
The brake switch is a normally closed switch that provides power to the torque converter clutch solenoid and a voltage signal to the PCM for cruise control. When the brakes are applied, the [1][2]torque converter clutch is disengaged and cruise control is turned "OFF".
OPERATION
The brake switch actually contains two switches. Both portions of the switch are normally closed and open when the brakes are applied. This interrupts power to the "cruise brake" input terminal of the PCM, and interrupts the power supply to the TCC solenoid inside the transaxle.
