Troubleshooting Hints

Perform before beginning system diagnosis
^ Make the following checks before beginning system diagnosis.
1. If the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Electronic Brake Control Module (ECM) are not accessible with a scan tool, check for an open in CKT 800 between S221 and S207.
2. If a single component is not accessible with a scan tool, check for an open in the following:
^ Powertrain Control Module - CKT 800 between S207 and component;
^ Electronic Brake Control Module - CKT 800 between S207 and component;
^ Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module - CKT 800 between S221 and component;
If the wires are OK, Refer to Antilock Brake System for ABS diagnosis, and Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint System) for SIR diagnosis. Restraints and Safety Systems Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems
3. Check that all connectors in system are mated correctly.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check (Refer to "Diagnostic Aids/General Troubleshooting Procedures,") Diagnostic Aids
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of their systems (Refer to "Diagnostic Aids/General Troubleshooting Procedures,") Diagnostic Aids
