ECT Sensor Replacement Procedure

Removal Procedure
1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System.
2. Remove the air inlet duct.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.

Important: Care must be taken when handling the ECT sensor. Damage to the ECT sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

4. Remove the ECT sensor from the engine coolant pump.

Installation Procedure
1. Coat the ECT sensor threads with sealer P/N 1052080 or equivalent.
2. Install the ECT sensor into the engine coolant pump. Tighten the ECT sensor to 23 Nm (17 lb ft).
3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
4. Install the air inlet duct.
5. Refill the engine coolant.
6. Start the engine and check for leaks.
7. Recheck the engine coolant level.
