Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair
NOTE: When a hose is reinstalled or replaced, it is essential to follow the following procedures:Power Steering Pump:
Hydraulic Booster Routing:
Power Steering Hose Routing:
- Route hoses in the proper position.
- Route hoses smoothly. Avoid sharp bends and kinking.
- After hoses are installed, check all connections to ensure there are no leaks and that air is not being drawn into the system. Bleed the system.
- Properly position all tie-wraps and hose insulators.
CAUTION: Do not start the engine with any power steering hose disconnected, or damage to the components could occur.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
NOTE: The position of all tie wraps and hose insulators for proper re-installation.
1. Tie wraps and hose insulators.
2. Pressure hose from rear of power steering pump and hydroboost inlet.
3. Pressure hose from hydroboost outlet and steering gear.
4. Cooler hose from the steering gear and steering pump.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Cooler hose to the steering gear and pump.
2. Pressure hose to the hydroboost outlet and the gear.
3. Pressure hose from pump to hydroboost inlet. Tighten fittings to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
4. Tie wraps and hose insulators.
NOTE: All tie wraps and hose insulators should be re-installed in their original positions. Failure to do so may cause unwanted noise, vibration, or harshness in the passenger compartment.
5. Fill and bleed the system.
