Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair





REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the driver side sound insulator.
2. Remove the electrical connection.
3. Disconnect the brake switch retainer (2), grasping and turning 90 degrees counter clockwise and pulling towards the rear of the vehicle.





INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Insert the stop lamp switch (2) into the retainer until the switch body seats on the retainer.





2. Pull the brake pedal (3) upward against the internal pedal stop.
^ For the diagnosis of the stop light circuit, refer to Electrical Diagnosis.
^ For adjustment of the stop lamp, refer to Stop Lamp Adjustment.
3. Turn the switch 90 degrees clockwise in order to lock into position.
4. Install the electrical connection.
5. Install the drivers side sound insulator.
