Component Tests and General Diagnostics

A malfunction in the cruise control system is the result of either the electrical components or the mechanical components. Isolate the electrical components or the mechanical components prior to a diagnosis. Begin a diagnosis with the simplest operation. End a diagnosis with the most difficult operation.

Perform the following actions when performing a mechanical inspection:
^ Ensure that the cruise control servo cable is connected to the following components:

- The cruise control servo assembly (6)

- The accelerator lever assembly (1)
^ Ensure that the following components move freely:

- The cruise control servo cable (3)

- The accelerator lever (1)

^ Inspect the cruise control servo assembly (6) for any bare, broken, or disconnected wires.
If no abnormalities are found in the mechanical inspection, and the cruise control system is inoperative, refer to Symptoms - Cruise Control. A Symptoms
