Spark Plug Wires Not Operating Properly

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39200 Digital Multimeter

1. Inspect the routing of the wires. Improper routing can cause crossfiring.
2. Inspect each wire for any signs of
^ cracks
^ burns damage
^ splits in the wire
3. Inspect each boot for signs of
^ tears
^ piercing
^ arc through
^ carbon tracking
4. If the boot needs to be replaced, twist the boot a half turn in either direction in order to break the seal before pulling on the boot in order to remove the wire.
5. With the engine ON, inspect for any arcing to ground or other components.
6. Connect an ohmmeter to the end of each suspect wire. If the meter reads over 30,000 Ohm, replace the wire.
