Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Open the hood.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil into a suitable container.





4. Remove the oil filter from the engine block.
5. Clean the drain plug and oil filter sealing surfaces.


Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the oil pan drain plug to the oil pan.
- Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





2. Install the NEW oil filter to the engine block.
- Tighten the oil filter to the oil filter manufacturers specifications listed on the oil filter box.
3. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Fill the crankcase with oil. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Service Precautions.
5. Close the hood.
