Engine Protection System Temperature Switch Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cables.
2. Drain the cooling system below the level of the coolant temperature switch.
3. Remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the hold down nut and washer on the coolant temperature switch.
5. Remove the harness connector (1) from the coolant temperature switch.




6. Remove the coolant temperature switch (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the coolant temperature switch (1).

Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




2. Install the harness connector (1) onto the coolant temperature switch.
Install the nut and washer onto the coolant temperature switch.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 0.75 N.m (6.6 lb in).

3. Refill the coolant system.
4. Install the engine cover.
5. Connect the negative battery cables.
