Radiator Replacement

Removal Procedure

- Tools Required
- J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers





1. Remove air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Computers and Controls.
2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.

Important: To prevent shearing of rubber bushing(s) loosen bolt(s) on engine strut(s) before swinging strut(s).

3. Remove the engine strut brace bolts from the upper tie bar and rotate the strut(s) and brace(s) rearward. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Left) or Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Right).
4. Remove the electric cooling fans. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement.
5. Remove the upper radiator brackets and bolts.





6. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the radiator inlet hose clamp and the radiator outlet hose clamp.
7. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the radiator.
8. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
9. Remove the low coolant module. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement.
10. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler lines from the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
11. Remove the radiator.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the radiator to the lower mounts.
2. Connect the transaxle oil cooler lines to the radiator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler Pipes Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
3. Install the low coolant module. Refer to Coolant Level Module Replacement.
4. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the radiator. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition and install the hose clamp.
5. Connect the radiator inlet hose to the radiator. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition and install the hose clamp.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





6. Install the radiator brackets and bolts.
Tighten the radiator bracket bolts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
7. Install the electric cooling fans. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement.
8. Install the engine mount strut(s) to the proper position. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Left) or Engine Mount Strut Replacement (Right).
9. Install air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Computers and Controls.
10. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
11. Inspect for leaks.
