Front Fender Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
2. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
4. Remove the front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the front fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement (Front Fender Insulator Replacement).
6. Remove the washer solvent container from the right fender. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
7. Remove the rocker panel molding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement (Impala) ()Rocker Panel Molding Replacement (Monte Carlo) () in Exterior Trim.
8. Remove the body side molding, if required. Refer to Body Side Molding Replacement (Service and Repair) in Exterior Trim.




9. Remove the bolts from the fender at the door hinge pillar.




10. Remove the bolts from the fender at the rocker panel.




11. Remove the bolts from the fender at the front compartment side rail.




12. Remove the bolts from the fender at the lower engine compartment side rail.
13. Remove the fender from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the fender to the vehicle

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts to the fender at the front compartment side rail.

Tighten the front Fender to Engine Compartment Side Rail Bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




3. Install the bolts to the fender at the rocker panel.

Tighten the fender to rocker panel bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




4. Install the bolts to the fender at the door hinge pillar.

Tighten the fender to door hinge pillar bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




5. Install the bolts to the fender at the lower engine compartment side rail.

Tighten the Fender to Lower Engine Compartment Side Rail Bolts to 5 Nm (45 lb in).

6. Install the washer solvent container to the right fender. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
7. Install the front fender sound insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement (Front Fender Insulator Replacement).
8. Install the front fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement (Service and Repair).
9. Install the hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
10. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement (Service and Repair).
11. Install the rocker panel molding. Refer to Rocker Panel Molding Replacement (Impala) ()Rocker Panel Molding Replacement (Monte Carlo) () in Exterior Trim.
12. Remove the protective tape.
13. Install the body side molding, if required. Refer to Body Side Molding Replacement (Service and Repair) in Exterior Trim.
