Brake Caliper Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Siphon two-thirds of the fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
4. Remove the brake hose union bolt (2). Place a container beneath the hose in order to catch escaping fluid. Discard the union fitting washers.
5. Remove two caliper mounting bolts.
6. Remove the caliper from the caliper carrier.
7. Remove the caliper pins (3)
8. Inspect the following parts for corrosion and wear:
- Mounting bolts
- Slide caliper pins
- Pads
- Rotors
- Dust boots
Replace any part that exhibits such conditions.
Installation Procedure
1. Lubricate the caliper pins (3) with silicone grease.
2. Install the two caliper pins (3), with the boots (2), to the caliper carrier (1)
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the caliper to the caliper carrier. Secure with 2 caliper mounting bolts.
- Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
4. Install the brake hose union bolt (2) with new washers.
- Tighten the brake hose union bolt to 23 Nm (17 lb ft).
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Fill the master cylinder fluid reservoir. Refer to Brake Fluid Reservoir.
8. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Brake Bleeding.
9. Inspect for leaks.
