Fuel Level Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Remove the fuel sender assembly from the fuel tank.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) for the fuel level sensor from the fuel sender assembly.

IMPORTANT: Do not apply pressure to the sensor resistor plate or to the float arm. Pressure can deform the these parts, and cause incorrect operation.




3. Depress the retaining tab (1), and slide the fuel level sensor assembly down in order to remove the sensor from the fuel sender assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Insert the tab (1) on the fuel level sensor assembly into the channel (2) on the fuel sender assembly. Slide the sensor up until the sensor locks in place.




2. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the fuel sender assembly.
3. Install the fuel sender assembly into the fuel tank.
