Battery Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION:
^ Refer to Batteries Produce Explosive Gases Caution in Service Precautions.
^ Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Disconnect the battery positive cable.
3. Remove the following parts:
3.1. The retainer nut
3.2. The retainer washer
3.3. The retainer
3.4. The battery
4. Inspect the following items for physical damage or corrosion, clean as necessary:
^ The battery
^ The battery cables
^ The connectors
^ The battery tray
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the following parts:
1.1. The battery onto a cleaned battery tray
1.2. The retainer
1.3. The retainer washer
1.4. The retainer nut
Tighten
Tighten the retainer nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
2. Connect the battery positive cable.
3. Connect the battery negative cable.
Tighten
Tighten the battery terminal bolts to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
