Scan Tool Testing and Procedures

This vehicle may have stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) for this system into the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Prior to performing any diagnostics, the vehicle should be checked for stored DTCs. Failure to do so may result in incorrect diagnostics or replacement of good parts.

NOTE: Trouble codes can only be read and cleared through the use of a scan tool.

Always begin diagnostics with the "Diagnostic System Check" and the "Diagnostic Starting Point" for the system that you are working on.
