Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair

CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.
3. Release the retaining tabs inside the steering wheel and remove the trim that covers the back of the steering wheel.




4. Remove the bolt that attaches the ground wire to the steering wheel.
5. Pry outward with a small flat-bladed tool to remove the cruise control switch from the steering wheel.
6. In a downward motion push the switches back through the steering wheel to remove the cruise control switches and wire harness from the steering wheel.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. In a upward motion push the switches and wire harness back through the steering wheel.
2. Push downward on the cruise control switch to install the cruise control switch to the steering wheel.
3. Install the bolt that attaches the ground wire to the steering wheel. Tighten till fully seated.




4. Install the trim cover to the back of the steering wheel engaging all the locking tabs.
5. Install the steering wheel to the steering column.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
7. Perform a Diagnostic System Check. Refer to Diagnostic System Check. Diagnostic System Check - Cruise Control
