Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Will Not Properly Communicate Certain On-Board Diagnostic Test Result Information with Non-TECH2(R) (Generic) Service or Test Equipment (Reprogram PCM)

Models:
2002 Chevrolet Cavaliers

with 2.2L Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) (RPO KL6) Engine (VIN 4 - RPO LN2)

Condition

Some customers may comment that their vehicle's engine is unable to be properly serviced or tested using non-TECH2(R) (Generic) service or test equipment. When requested by non-TECH2(R) (Generic) service or test equipment, these vehicles are unable to properly report failed gasoline diagnostic test results that were logged on the current or a previous drive cycle.

Correction

Re-program the PCM using calibration 12579194 or later.

The new calibration was released beginning with TIS satellite data update version 8.5 for 2002, available August 2002. As always, make sure your TECH2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
