11. Intake Manifold Removal

Intake Manifold Removal

Important: The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail, and fuel injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the manifold as a complete assembly.
DO NOT reuse the intake manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets.





1. Remove the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, if required.





2. Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness connector (1) from the fuel rail stop bracket (2).





3. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve pipe from the left rocker cover - LS1.





4. Remove the PCV valve pipe strap nut- LS1.
5. Remove the PCV valve pipe from the right rocker cover and intake manifold - LS1.





6. Remove the PCV valve pipe (1) from the valley cover and intake manifold - LS6.

Caution: Refer to Fuel Rail Stop Bracket Installation Caution in Service Precautions.





7. Remove the fuel rail bolts.
Remove the intake manifold bolts (1) and fuel rail stop bracket (2).





8. Note the location of the fuel rail ground strap (1) on the intake manifold.
The fuel rail ground strap must be installed during assembly.





9. Remove the engine coolant air bleed pipe hose from the throttle body.
10. Remove the intake manifold.





11. Remove the manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets (1) from the intake manifold.
12. Discard the intake manifold gaskets.
