Subject:
Engine Deceleration Hesitation, Loss of Power On Vehicles with Police Package (Reprogram PCM)

Models:
2001-2002 Chevrolet Impala
with 3.8L Engine (VIN K - RPO L36) and Police Package (RPOs 9C1 or 9C3)

Condition

Some police agencies may comment on a deceleration hesitation or loss of engine power. Upon investigation, the technician may find that no DTC codes are set.

Correction

Reprogram the PCM with the latest calibration available on TIS 06/2002 data update or later.

The calibrations listed are electronic calibrations and are NOT available from GMSPO.

Calibrations will be available from Techline starting July 2002, on the TIS 2000 version TIS 06/2002 data update or later.
