Front Bumper: Service and Repair




Front Bumper Replacement (Old Style)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front grille. Refer to Grille Replacement (Chevrolet) (Grille Replacement (Chevrolet))Grille Replacement (GMC) (Grille Replacement (GMC)).




2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fog lamps, if equipped.




3. Remove the retaining bolts (1, 2) from the front bumper.
4. Remove the brace bolt (3) from the front bumper.
5. Remove the front bumper assembly from the vehicle.
6. Remove the air deflector from the bumper if necessary. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair).
7. Remove the fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement (GMC Pick Up) .
8. Transfer any parts as needed.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Front Fog Lamp Replacement (GMC Pick Up) .
2. Install the air deflector to the bumper if necessary. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Position the front bumper assembly on the vehicle.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Important: Tighten the bolts in the following sequence.


4. Install the retaining bolts (1, 2) to the front bumper.

1. Tighten the bracket bolt (1) to 85 Nm (63 lb ft).
2. Tighten the bracket bolt (2) to 85 Nm (63 lb ft).
3. Tighten the brace bolt to 55 Nm (41 lb ft).




5. Connect the electrical connector to the fog lamps, if equipped.
