Trim Plate Replacement - Front Floor Console (Monte Carlo)

Removal Procedure




1. Apply the park brake.
2. Position the automatic transaxle shift control indicator to 2.
3. Remove the front floor console trim plate screw (1) located between the instrument panel and the shift lever.




4. Open the storage compartment door.
5. Lift the trim plate up and slightly rearward.
6. Remove the wiring harnesses from the retainers.
7. Disconnect the traction control switch electrical connector.
8. Remove the shift lever trim plate.
9. Disconnect the heated seat switches from the trim plate.
10. Remove the trim plate by lifting the trim plate slightly and rotating the trim plate 180 degrees. Lift the trim plate over the shift control handle.
11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cigarette lighter.

Installation Procedure




1. Lower the front floor console trim plate over the shift control handle as shown. Rotate the trim plate 180 degrees.
2. Connect the electrical connector to the cigarette lighter.
3. Connect the heated seat switches to the trim plate.
4. Install the shift lever trim plate.
5. Connect the traction control switch electric connector.
6. Install the wiring harnesses to the retainers.
7. Install the trim plate by pressing down on the retainers until fully seated.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

8. Install the trim plate screw (1) located between the instrument panel and the shift lever.

Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

9. Position the automatic transaxle shift control indicator in Park.
10. Release the park brake.
