Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Front

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling And Storage Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.

CAUTION: Following the deployment Of a side impact air bag, replace the following parts:
^ The seat back trim
^ The seat back pad The seat back frame
Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.



2. If the air bag has been deployed, the seat back trim, the seat back pad and the seat back frame must be replaced.
3. Remove the seat back cover, as needed. The head restraint does not need to be removed.




4. Remove the driver side air bag fasteners (2).
5. Note the routing of the air bag wiring harness (4) and the retaining clip attachments within the driver seat.
6. Remove the wiring harness (4) retaining clips from the driver seat frame.
7. Gently pull the pigtail harness up into the seat cushion and the seat back, while guiding the harness through the wire triangle of the seat frame.
8. Remove the module (1) from the driver seat back frame
9. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the module (1) to the seat while guiding the pigtail harness through the trim cup.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the driver side air bag fasteners (2).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Gently pull the wiring harness (4) down into the seat cushion while guiding the harness through the wire triangle of the seat frame.
4. Install the harness retaining clips to the seat frame.
5. Install the seat back cover.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
