Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

IGNITION COIL(S) REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil that is being serviced.
3. Remove the ignition coil screws (1).
4. Remove the coil (2) from the ignition control module (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the coil assembly (2) to the ignition control module.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the ignition coil screws (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).

3. Connect the spark plug wires to the ignition coil that is being serviced.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
