Disconnect/Connect Procedure
BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDUREDISCONNECT PROCEDURE
1. Record all preset and theft codes from the radio.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
3. Verify that all the electrical components are off such as interior lights, the underhood lamp, etc.
4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the rear battery cover bolts (1) and cover (2).
6. Disconnect negative battery cable.
CONNECT PROCEDURE
1. Verify that all electrical components are off such as interior lights, the underhood lamp, etc.
2. Clean any corrosion from the negative battery cable using a wire brush.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
4. Install the rear battery cover (2) and nuts (1).
Tighten
Tighten nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Reset the radio presets and theft codes.
