Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Engine Compartment

FUEL HOSE/PIPES REPLACEMENT - ENGINE COMPARTMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
- Refer to Fuel and EVAP Pipe Caution in Service Precautions.
- Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in Service Precautions
.

NOTE: Refer to Fuel and Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Hose/Pipe Connection Cleaning Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.




2. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar) in order to disconnect the following from the fuel rail:
- The fuel return hose/pipe (1)
- The fuel feed hose/pipe (2)
3. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) pipe (7, 8) from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.
4. Disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips from the following:
- The oil indicator tube (3)
- The engine wiring harness bracket (4)
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
6. Disengage the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips from the EVAP/fuel pipe brackets (5, 6).




7. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) in order to disconnect the following from the EVAP/fuel pipes:
- The chassis fuel return pipe (1)
- The chassis fuel feed pipe (2)
- The chassis EVAP pipe (3)
8. Remove the EVAP/fuel hose/pipe assembly from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the EVAP/fuel hose/pipe assembly up into the engine compartment along the engine and transmission.




2. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) in order to connect the following to the EVAP/fuel pipes:
- The chassis fuel return pipe (1)
- The chassis fuel feed pipe (2)
- The chassis EVAP pipe (3)




3. Secure the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips to the EVAP/fuel pipe brackets (5, 6).
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Secure the EVAP/fuel pipe retaining clips to the following:
- The oil indicator tube (3)
- The engine wiring harness bracket (4)
6. Connect the EVAP pipe (7, 8) to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.
7. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar) in order to connect the following to the fuel rail:
- The fuel return hose/pipe (1)
- The fuel feed hose/pipe (2)
8. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
8.1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
8.2. Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
8.3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
8.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
