Trim Panel Replacement - Knee Bolster
TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - KNEE BOLSTERREMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the hood release lever screws.
2. Remove the hood release lever from the trim panel.
3. Remove the screw retaining the trim panel.
4. Pull rearward on the trim panel to release the retaining clips.
The trim panel will be tethered to the vehicle by the park brake release cable.
5. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the park brake release handle from the park brake release cable. Release the retaining tabs located behind the handle.
6. In order to remove the cable from the trim panel, reach behind the panel and rotate the cable clockwise past the molded bumps (1).
7. Remove the trim panel from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Position the trim panel to the instrument panel (I/P).
2. In order to install the cable to the trim panel, insert the cable into the trim panel and rotate the cable counterclockwise past the molded bumps (1), until seated.
3. Install the park brake release handle to the cable ensuring the retaining tabs are fully seated.
4. Align the trim panel retaining clips to the I/P.
Push the trim panel forward into the I/P, seating the retaining clips.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the screw retaining the trim panel.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
6. Install the hood release lever to the trim panel.
7. Install the hood release lever screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
