Assist Step Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.




2. Remove the fasteners that retain the assist step to the assist step support brackets.




3. Remove the assist step from the assist step support brackets.




4. Remove the assist step support brackets, if necessary.
5. Remove the bolts that retain the assist step support brackets to the frame.



Installation Procedure






Important: The brackets are location specific.


1. Install the assist step support brackets if removed previously.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolts that retain the assist step support brackets to the frame.

Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).





3. Install the assist step to the assist step mounting brackets.




4. Install the assist step to the mounting bracket bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

5. Lower the vehicle.
