Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and Support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.





4. If 2WD equipped, remove the 1 bolt (1) and the vehicle speed sensor (2) from the transmission.

Installation Procedure





1. If 2WD equipped, install the 1 bolt (1) and the vehicle speed sensor (2) to the transmission.
2. Install the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
