Stabilizer Shaft Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Remove the stabilizer shaft links.





4. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator clamps mounting bolts (4) (15 and 25 series).
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft clamps (3) (1500 and 2500 series w/7300 GVW).
6. Remove the stabilizer shaft (5) (1500 and 2500 series w/7300 GVW).
7. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators (2) (1500 and 2500 series w/7300 GVW).





Important: The stabilizer shaft insulator stud may come out of the frame when removing stabilizer shaft insulator mounting nuts.

8. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulator clamps mounting nuts (3) and/or studs (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
9. Remove the stabilizer shaft clamps (4) (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
10. Remove the stabilizer shaft (2) (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
11. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators (5) (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
12. Inspect all of the parts for wear and damage.

Installation Procedure





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

1. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator clamp studs, if removed (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
- Tighten the studs to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

Important: Place the stabilizer shaft insulators on the stabilizer shaft with the slits facing toward the front of the vehicle.

2. Install the stabilizer shaft insulators (5) to the stabilizer shaft (2) (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
3. Install the stabilizer shaft (2) (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
4. Install the stabilizer shaft clamps (4) over the insulators and the stabilizer shaft (2) (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
5. Install stabilizer shaft insulator clamps mounting nuts (3) (2500 series w/8500 and 8600 GVW and 3500 series).
- Tighten the nuts to 46 Nm (34 ft. lbs.).





Important: Place the stabilizer shaft insulators on the stabilizer shaft with the slits facing toward the front of the vehicle.

6. Install the stabilizer shaft insulators (2) (1500 and 2500 series w/7300 GVW).
7. Install the stabilizer shaft (5) (1500 and 2500 series w/7300 GVW).
8. Install the stabilizer shaft clamps (3) (1500 and 2500 series w/7300 GVW).
9. Install the stabilizer shaft insulator clamps mounting bolts (4) (1500 and 2500 series w/7300 GVW).
- Tighten
- Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the stabilizer shaft links.
11. Install the tire and wheel.
12. Lower the vehicle.
