Folding Top Side Rail Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Cycle the folding top stowage lid open.
2. Stop the cycle before the folding top panel is unlatched from the windshield header.
3. Place a protective cover on all adjacent body panels and quarter panels.
4. Remove the stowage compartment lid assembly. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Replacement (Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Replacement) .
5. Cycle the folding top until the front panel is unlatched from the windshield header.
6. Remove the front headliner. Refer toRetractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
7. Remove the side headliners. Refer toRetractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
8. Remove the front folding top panel. Refer toFolding Top Panel Replacement - Front (Folding Top Panel Replacement - Front) .
9. Remove the rear folding top panel. Refer to Folding Top Panel Replacement - Rear (Folding Top Panel Replacement - Rear) .




10. Using a grease pencil or suitable marking device, mark alignment marks onto the bulkhead for realignment.
11. Remove the necessary zip-ties to aid in removal of the folding top side rail assembly.
12. Remove the lock pillar inner trim. Refer to Trim Replacement - Lock Pillar (Trim Replacement - Lock Pillar) in Interior Trim.




13. Remove the folding top side rail fasteners.




14. Carefully lift the folding top side rail assembly upward to access the main lifting cylinder.
15. Disconnect the folding top lifting cylinder from the side rail assembly. Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Cylinder Replacement.
16. Hold the down capture latch cable to prevent scratching any painted surfaces.




17. Remove the folding top side rail assembly from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the folding top side rail assembly into the vehicle.
2. Install the folding top lifting cylinder into the side rail assembly. Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Cylinder Replacement.




3. Install the folding top side rail fasteners. Hand tighten the fasteners.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Align the side rail to alignment marks on the bulkhead.

Tighten the folding top side rail fasteners to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

5. Install the lock pillar trim. Refer toTrim Replacement - Lock Pillar (Trim Replacement - Lock Pillar) in Interior Trim.
6. Route the down capture latch cable in the stowage compartment area.
7. Install the removed zip-ties for proper cable/hose routing.
8. Install the rear folding top panel into the vehicle. Refer toFolding Top Panel Replacement - Rear (Folding Top Panel Replacement - Rear) .
9. Install the front folding top panel into the vehicle. Refer toFolding Top Panel Replacement - Front (Folding Top Panel Replacement - Front) .
10. Install the side headliners. Refer toRetractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Side Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
11. Install the front headliner. Refer toRetractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement (Retractable Roof Headliner Front Trim Panel Replacement) in Interior Trim.
12. Install the stowage compartment lid assembly. Refer to Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Replacement (Folding Top Stowage Compartment Lid Replacement) .
13. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to Power Folding Top Description and Operation.
