Engine Valley Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the intake manifold.
2. Remove the engine valley cover bolts (506).
3. Remove the engine valley cover (555), gasket (556), and the O-rings (537) from the cover.
4. Remove the oil pressure sensor and washer as required.
5. Discard the old gaskets and O-rings. DO NOT reuse. Use NEW gaskets and O-rings ONLY.

Installation Procedure





1. Important: All gasket surfaces should be free of oil and other foreign material during assembly.

Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
2. Install the O-rings (537) to the cover (555).

3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the cover (555), gaskets (556), and bolts (506).
^ Tighten the cover bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) or equivalent to the threads of the sensor.
5. Install the oil pressure sensor and sealing washer.
^ Tighten the sensor to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the intake manifold.
