Transmission Fluid Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle.
2. Remove the oil fill plug.





3. Place a suitable drain pan under the transmission in order to catch the drained transmission fluid.
4. Remove the oil drain plug.
5. Remove any old sealant from the transmission housing.

Installation Procedure





1. Apply a thin bead of sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent to the oil drain and fill plug threads.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the oil drain plug.
^ Tighten the plug to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).





3. Fill the transmission to just below the bottom of the fill plug hole. Refer to Lubrication Specifications.





4. Install the oil fill plug.
^ Tighten the plug to 37 Nm (27 ft. lbs.).
5. Lower the vehicle.
