2. Crankshaft Balancer Removal



Crankshaft Balancer Removal

Tools Required
^ J38416-B Harmonic Balancer Remover
^ J42846 Crankshaft Protector Button
^ J42847 Flywheel Holding Tool





1. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important: Ensure that the teeth of the flywheel holding tool engage the engine flywheel teeth.

Install the J42847 (1) to the starter bolt holes.
Tighten the J42847 bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).





2. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt and washer.





3. Install the J42846 onto the end of the crankshaft.





4. Install the J38416-B (2) in order to remove the crankshaft balancer. Place the legs of the J38416-B into the recesses cast into the backside of the balancer inner hub.
5. Tighten the center screw of the J38416-B until the crankshaft balancer is removed from the end of the crankshaft.





6. Remove the J38416-B.
7. Remove the crankshaft balancer.
8. Remove the J42846 from the end of the crankshaft.





9. Remove the J42847 (1).
