Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair



MASS AIR FLOW (MAF)/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) for the mass air flow (MAF)/air intake temperature (IAT) sensor (5).
2. Remove the lines (2) from the air duct (4).
3. Loosen the air intake duct clamps (3).
4. Remove the air intake duct (4) from the throttle body.
5. Remove the MAF/IAT sensor (5) from the air cleaner housing (7).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the MAF/IAT sensor (5) in the air cleaner housing (6).

IMPORTANT: Ensure that the arrow on the MAF/IAT sensor is pointing to the front, radiator, indicate the proper air flow direction. The arrow must point toward the engine.

2. Install the air intake duct (4).
3. Position the clamps (3) on the air intake duct (4).
4. Tighten the clamps (3).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten air intake duct and MAF/IAT sensor (2) to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

5. Reconnect the MAF/IAT electrical connector (1).
6. Reconnect the electrical connector (1).
