Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the oil fill cap.
3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .





4. Remove both oil pan drain plugs.
5. Drain the engine oil into an appropriate container.





6. Remove the engine oil filter from the engine block.

Installation Procedure





1. Important: Before installing the new oil filter, ensure that the old oil filter gasket has been removed. If not, removed the old gasket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Install the oil filter to the engine block.
^ Tighten the engine oil filter to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).





2. Install the oil pan drain plug.
^ Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Lower the vehicle.

4. Important: DO NOT use any engine oil additives in Corvette engines.

Add 7 quarts of oil to the dry sump tank.
5. Install dipstick and oil filler cap.
6. Start engine and let run for at least 15 seconds to circulate oil through the system and displace any trapped air.
7. Shut off engine.
8. Remove oil fill cap.
9. Add 1 quart of oil to the dry sump tank.
10. Check the oil level.
11. Install the oil fill cap.
12. Close the hood.
13. Reset the engine oil life monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System - Resetting. Service and Repair
