Ground Strap: Service and Repair

GROUND STRAP REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the nut retaining ground strap to frame.
3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Remove the bolt retaining ground strap to engine block and remove strap.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the strap and bolt to engine block.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

2. Lower the vehicle.
3. Install the nut to retain strap to frame.

Tighten nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

4. Close the hood.
