Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the electrical connector from the speed sensor.
3. Remove the retaining bolt and retainer for the speed sensor.
4. Remove the speed sensor. Discard O-rings, use NEW only.

Installation Procedure





1. Apply a small amount of clean transmission fluid on the NEW speed sensor O-ring.
2. Install the speed sensor in the transmission.

3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the retaining bracket and bolt.

Tighten the retaining bolt to 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).

4. Reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Lower the vehicle.
