Generator Replacement




Generator Replacement (LS3 or LS7) (6.2L or 7.0L)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory (w/o LS9) (Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory)Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory (LS9) (Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory).
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS7 or LS9) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS3) (Service and Repair).




3. Disconnect the generator electrical connector (1 and 2).
4. Remove the battery feed terminal nut (3) from the generator.
5. Remove the battery feed cable.




6. Remove the generator mounting bolts.
7. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the generator on the mounting bracket.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the generator bolts and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).




3. Connect the generator electrical connector (1 and 2).
4. Install the battery feed cable.
5. Install the battery feed terminal nut (3) and tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb in).
6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory (w/o LS9) (Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory)Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory (LS9) (Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory).
7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS7 or LS9) (Service and Repair)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (LS3) (Service and Repair).
