Park Brake Hardware Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




2. Remove the park brake shoe (2). Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (Single Rear Wheel - 1500 series) (Service and Repair)Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (Single Rear Wheel - 2500/3500 Series) (Service and Repair).




3. Remove the park brake shoe retaining spring and screw.




4. Remove the park brake adjuster nut and screw.




5. Remove the park brake tappet and push rod.

Installation Procedure

Important: Apply a high temperature silicone lubricant to all of the brake component metal contact points where the brake shoe metal contacts the backing plate, the adjuster, and the retaining springs.




1. Install the park brake tappet and push rod.




2. Install the park brake adjuster nut and screw.




3. Install the park brake shoe retaining spring and screw.




4. Install the park brake shoe (2). Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (Single Rear Wheel - 1500 series) (Service and Repair)Parking Brake Shoe Replacement (Single Rear Wheel - 2500/3500 Series) (Service and Repair).
5. Lower the vehicle.
