Exhaust Manifold Outlet Pipe Replacement - Right Side (LMM/LGH)

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning (Exhaust Service Warning).


1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the turbocharger exhaust pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement (LMM) (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement) Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement (LGH) (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement).
3. Remove the exhaust manifold outlet pipe heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Right Manifold Outlet Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Right Manifold Outlet Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Left Manifold Outlet Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Left Manifold Outlet Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Transmission Cross Member (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Transmission Cross Member)).




4. Remove the exhaust manifold outlet pipe bolts in the proper sequence.




5. Remove the exhaust manifold outlet pipe (3).

Installation Procedure




1. Install a NEW gasket to the EGR cooler with the tab (3) facing upward.
2. Install a NEW gasket to the turbocharger with the tab (2) facing inward.
3. Install a NEW gasket to the right exhaust manifold with the tabs (1) facing downward.




4. Position the exhaust manifold outlet pipe (8).
5. Loosely tighten the exhaust manifold outlet pipe to the turbocharger with the bolts (4).
6. Loosely tighten the bolts (2) and nuts (1) to the EGR valve cooler.
7. Loosely tighten the exhaust manifold outlet pipe bolts (3) and turbocharger bolts (4).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

8. Tighten the exhaust manifold outlet pipe bolts and nuts in the sequence shown to 53 Nm (39 lb ft).
9. Install the exhaust manifold outlet pipe heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Right Manifold Outlet Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Right Manifold Outlet Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Left Manifold Outlet Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Left Manifold Outlet Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe)) Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Transmission Cross Member (LGH)) (Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement (Transmission Cross Member)).
10. Install the turbocharger exhaust pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement (LMM) (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement) Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement (LGH) (Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Replacement).
11. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (Service and Repair).
12. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
