Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
2. Position the steering column tilt in the full downward position.




3. Unsnap and remove the upper steering column trim cover.




4. Remove the lower steering column trim cover screws.
5. Remove the lower steering column trim cover.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the lower steering column trim cover.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: Tighten the lower steering column trim cover screws in the mandatory torque sequence shown.

2. Install the lower steering column trim cover screws.

Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).




3. Install the upper steering column trim cover.
4. Push on the upper steering column trim cover until it snaps into place and is secure.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).
