Valve Lifter Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement Lower Intake Manifold Replacement.
2. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement Service and Repair.
3. Remove the valve lifter guide bolts.
4. Remove the valve lifter guides.
5. Remove the valve lifters.

Installation Procedure




1. Coat the valve lifters with prelube. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers.
2. Install the valve lifters.
3. Apply threadlock to the valve lifter guide bolt threads. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

4. Install the valve lifter guides and bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

5. Install the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement Service and Repair.
6. Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to Lower Intake Manifold Replacement Lower Intake Manifold Replacement.
